Club News
08 Jun 2007 - In today's Major League Baseball draft, Cardinals ace Right handed pitcher, Evan Hildebrandt was selected in the 6th Round, 199th overall by the Cincinnati Reds.

The Reds are an elite and historic MLB club that has featured such legends as Johnny Bench, Pete Rose and Ken Griffey Jr. Evan should feel at home in the Cincinnati red & white uniforms, having played for the Cardinals, Team Canada and the Abbotsford Angels (Abbotsford Minor Baseball).

The Cardinals take great pride in Evan's MLB selection and look forward to watching him continue his journey to the top of professional baseball.

2007 Season Preview
27 Mar 2007 - The Abbotsford Cardinals Baseball Team has been working since the beginning of January in preparation for the 2007 season.

The Cardinals return 14 players from last years club, along with 1 player from the Junior Cardinals and 8 newcomers.  The team of 23 has high goals for 2007 and look to achieve them through hard work.

The Cardinals have depth in the Pitching staff led by returning starters: Evan Hildenbrandt (RHP) and Chris Buddee (LHP).  Also returning from last years staff are: D.J. Boschmann (RHP), Kirk Haviland (RHP), and Jon Mihic (RHP), who all saw a lot of innings last year.  Chris Brink (RHP) at this point is still undetermined if he will be able to recover from arm problems and will add depth if he is available.  New arms on the Cardinal Pitching staff this year include: Grade 12's Tanner Braaten (RHP) and Tyler Oosterhof (LHP) both make the move from Chilliwack AAA.  Jeff Schmidt (RHP) is a solid grade 11 who looks to compete for a starting position.  Making the move from Provincial Championship AAA Bantam team on the hill are Shane Kraemer (LHP), and Sean LeGear (RHP), who look to make a strong impact as Grade 10's.

Eric Sim will lead the Cardinals from behind the plate in 2007.  Eric brings experience and leadership to the Cardinals.  Ronnie Pole makes the jump from the Junior Cardinals, to add depth at the catcher position.  Grade 10 Kevin Smith will see innings behind the plate as well.

Abbotsford will return 7 infielders from last years squad in: Mark Topper, Derek Florko, Keenan Takatch, Jon Mihic, D.J. Boschmann, Kirk Haviland, and Damon Loewen.  The Cardinals will also see 4 new faces in the infield in: Sean LeGear, Brett Scmidt, Jeff Scmidt and Kevin Smith.

The Cardinals have 2 returning outfielders coming back from last year's team in: Brad Ferraro and Kelvin Miller.  Moving to the outfield will be Danny Cummings along with newcomer Sebastien Wong.

The coaching staff for 2007 will see 3 coaches returning:  Andy Rempel takes on his second year as Head Coach (3rd year with the team) and has Corey Eckstein returning for his 3rd year as the pitching coach.  Tim Blake returns for his 4th year with the Cardinals.

The Cardinals have a positive outlook for 2007 and look to work hard and compete at the highest level of High School baseball in BC.
