The University of British Columbia Thunderbirds is pleased to announce that Adam Quan from the Fraser Valley Chiefs is the recipient of the annual scholarship awarded to the top graduating player from the BC Premier Baseball League. Adam is completing his fourth year with the Fraser Valley Chiefs baseball program and has maintained an academic average of 89% at Fraser Heights Secondary School. He will be entering the Human Kinetics program at UBC in the fall. Adam was also named “athlete of the year” at his high school in 2009. When making this announcement, Terry McKaig, head coach of the Thunderbirds noted, “We are excited to have Adam join the UBC Thunderbirds for this upcoming season. He is exactly what we look for in a player; an exceptional baseball player, and above average student in the classroom, and a role model off the field. His hard work, dedication, and desire to be the best will fit in well with our team. Adam is another player benefitting from the BCPBL award. A special thanks to Clyde Inouye, Ted Hotzak, and the entire league for their support of our program at UBC”. Congratulations to Adam and his family; mom, dad, two sisters and one brother who have supported him throughout his baseball. The Fraser Valley Chiefs coaching staff is also to be commended for the support, encouragement, and valuable instruction they have provided Adam over the past four years. |
