2010 Victoria Eagles Season Outlook
Wednesday, 07 April 2010 11:38
The Victoria Premier Eagles are eager to begin their inaugural season of competition in the B.C. Premier Baseball League (BCPBL), and the coaching staff is equally excited about preparing its players for the next level. The emphasis this season will be on development, consistency, and work ethic.  Given the strong youth movement in the Eagles organization, the building of fundamental skills and the establishment of a positive culture of competition will allow the coaches to create a foundation for on-going player success, both on and off the field.

The Eagles’ pitching staff will be led by Junior National Team standout Nick Pivetta, along with Colton Lindsay and left-hander Luke Hawkins. They will be supported by up-and-coming pitchers Aidan Verster, Daniel Bednarski, Thomas Koop, and Mackenzie Catto. The goals for the pitching staff will be to continually improve arm strength and physical condition, to challenge hitters by throwing strikes, and to keep them off-balance with quality off-speed pitches.

The majority of the catching responsibilities will be placed on left-handed hitter Daniel Peakman, who has exceeded expectations in his development since moving behind the plate last season. He will be supported by Alex Dumais and Hudson Brown, who are also eager to take on the role of catcher.

The infield will be composed of a variety of player-combinations so that players can add depth to their baseball resumes before graduating to the college level. Kyle MacQuisten will be a leader in the infield, and he will be joined by Ryan Adkins, Hudson Brown and Max Newton.  Infielders will be given the opportunity to gain experience at all four infield positions throughout the season.

The outfield is filled with athleticism, and at the forefront of this group is Chase Cuckovich, who will follow in his brother’s footsteps at center field. The corners will be manned by Alex Dumais and Brock Davidoff. Speed will play a key role in the success of the outfield.
