PITCHERS—The Junior Cannons are loaded with blue chip pitching for 2013. That includes righthanders Lichel Hirakawa-Kao, who has a live arm and outstanding mechanics, hard-throwing Isaac Greer and Lucas Soper, consistent Justin Maunahan, and work horse Cole Masik. Crafty left-hander Thomas Espig solidifies the rotation and Zach Chaba, Daniel Gosselin and Lucas Naidu add depth in the bull pen.
CATCHERS—Durable Ethan Taylor, power-hitting Blake Hobson-Dimas and Greer will share the duties behind the plate.
INFIELDERS—The Junior Cannons have infield depth, including Hirakawa-Kao and Naidu, who anchor the middle at shortstop. Versatile Soper and Maunahan are mainstays at second base, along with Dignan Ius, who keeps getting better, and hustling Nicholas Bartels, who both add depth at second and third. Espig is solid at first base and provides a lot of punch at the plate along with Hirakawa-Kao, Soper and Maunahan.
OUTFIELDERS—We expect a lot of run production from Nicholas Carusi and Garinder Sarana, who will also play first base, and Chaba is solid in centerfield. Christian Cullen and Joey Burgess have developed into strong defensive outfielders and both can also do the job as infielders. Dylan Dahl adds depth to the outfield.

A whole lot of the Junior Cannons are also seeing a lot of action with the senior team, giving them extra at-bats and innings pitched. That includes grade 9 catcher Nick Favaro, who has drilled a pair of home runs and will be going to B.C. Selects camp, power pitcher Bradley Smith, brilliant outfielder Josh Gaudette, plus Max Wood, Geoffrey Legg and Ian Creamore, who are all solid infielders and promising pitchers. (See the senior Cannons preview for more on these players.) PITCHING—The Junior Cannon hurlers also feature hard-throwing righthander Stefan Helyar, who has a plus fastball and outstanding potential, along with workhorse Erik Brownell, who always wants the ball. Ryan McGee has a solid arm and outstanding velocity and Cole Masik and Jordan Lee both work very hard and keep improving. CATCHING—Ethan Taylor does a remarkable job catching bull pens and backing up Favaro, who is often behind the plate for both ends of a doubleheader. INFIELD—Landon White shows power at first base and Joey Burgess, Christian Cullen and Taylor work hard and keep improving at second. Markus Helyar has an excellent swing and solidifies the left side of the infield along with Wood, Legg and Creamore. OUTFIELD—When he’s not playing with the seniors Gaudette is the Rock of Gibraltar in centerfield and at the plate, with lots of help from Armand Ewusie, who can run and drive the ball. Kyle Lee, who has a solid swing, and Masik add depth to the outfield.
