Sunday August 12 - Championship Game - Abbotsford Jr Cardinals 2  Victoria Jr Mariners 9


2012 BCJPBL Champs - Victoria Jr Mariners

Game 1Abbotsford Jr Cardinals 9 Vancouver Jr Cannons 2 - Jr Cardinals remain unbeaten and advance to championship final led by DH Liam Kano-McGregor who went 4 for 4 with double and 2 RBI. Joel VanEe went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.
Game 2 - Victoria Jr Mariners 1 Coquitlam Redlegs 0 - Lucas Piechnik's triple in the 5th inning drove home the game's only run. Outstanding pitching performances by Redlegs Ryan Mose (6 IP, 3 H, 3 BB, 10 Ks)) and Jr Mariners WP Zach Downey (7 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 5 Ks)
 

Saturday August 11 - Abbotsford (3-0) and Coquitlam (2-1) were the first two teams to reach the cross-over semi-final round with wins to today. Victoria and Vancouver also reached the semi-finals placing first and second in Pool A.
Sunday's schedule - 11.30am Abbotsford vs Vancouver and 2.30pm Victoria vs Coquitlam. Championship game scheduled for 4.30pm. Come on out to Whalley Stadium!!

Game 1 - Coquitlam Redlegs 6 White Rock Jr Tritons 1 - RHP Mitchell Anderson threw a complete game 4-hitter, not allowing a walk and had 4 Ks. For the Redlegs at the plate Dalton Anderson went 2 for 4 with an RBI and run scored. T.J. McCullough knocked in 2 runs with a double. Joey Gladman went 2 for 2 for the Jr Tritons.

Game 2 - Vancouver Jr Cannons 7 Nanaimo Jr Pirates 3 - RHP Erik Brownell threw a complete game for the win. Four singles a hit batter and walk brought in three runs for the Jr Cannons in the 1st. Bradley Smith went 3 for 3 with a triple and Joey Burgess went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.

Game 3 - Abbotsford Jr Cardinals 7 North Shore Jr Twins 1 - Jr Cardinals pounded out 13 hits with Joel VanEe and Jesse Braun each going 3 for 4. Liam Kano-McGregor and Graham Wiebe each had two hits.

Game 4 - Victoria Jr Mariners 3 Langley Jr Blaze 1 - Despite being outhit 8-3, the Jr Mariners came out on top. Lucas Piechnik knocked in the eventual game winning run in the 5th with a single. Winning pitcher Nick Dawson went the distance.

 


Friday August 10 - Only Victoria and Abbotsford remained undefeated after the 2nd day of the Championship with 6th seed Coquitlam and 5th seed Vancouver both winning over higher seeded teams

Game 1 - Jr Mariners 4 Jr Pirates 0 - RHP Dallas Patterson threw a one-hitter shutting out the Jr Pirates. Nick Dawson knocked in the game's first run with a double and that was enough for Patterson.

Game 2 - Jr Cardinals 4 Jr Tritons 0 - RHP  Jordan Dobos allowed just one runs on four hits over 6 innings and  Emilio Foden pitched the 7th for the Jr Cardinals to get the save.

Game 3 - Redlegs 5 Jr Twins 2 - RHP Jonathan Keltie managed to go the distance and pick up the win dispite 9 Jr Twins hits. Coquitlam scored single runs in five of the seven innings.

Game 4 - Jr Cannons 4 Jr Blaze 0 - LHP Bradley Smith threw a 1-hit shutout with 12 Ks against #1 seed. Finished the game despite giving up 9 walks and throwing alot of pitches!  The game's first run came in the 1st inning on a Landon White ground out that brought home Kyle Lee.

 

Thursday Aug 9 - The eight team 2012 BCJPBL Provincial Championship tournament opened today at Whalley Stadium in Surrey. Weather and field conditions are near perfect for this season ending tournament being hosted by Paul Hargreaves and the Whalley Chiefs organization.

Game 1 saw the North Shore Jr Twins start off with a bang... 7 runs in the first innings. The White Rock Jr Tritons came back with 3 runs in the 3rd but the final score was 11-4. Trevor Wiersma led the Jr Twins at plate with 5 RBI going 3 for 3 with two 2-run scoring triples. Jr Twins 11 Jr Tritons 4.

Game 2 was 1-1 until the bottom of the 6th when Abbotsford Jr Cardinals scored two runs. The second run of the inning and eventual winning run was scored when Jesse Braun laid down a perfect bunt with the bases loaded, two out and two strikes. The Coquitlam Redlegs scored a run in the top of the 7th so the final score was Jr Cardinals 3 Redlegs 2. Great pitching as Jr Twins' Liam Kano-McGregor (8 Ks) and Redlegs Curtis Taylor (11 Ks) each only allowed four hits. Final score Jr Cardinals 3 Redlegs 2.

Game 3 was tied 1-1 until the 6th when the Jr Mariners scored twice. Big hits were Tanner Hess's triple and Michael Varley's double. Final Score Jr Mariners 3 Vancouver Jr Cannons 1.

Game 4 - Great pitching performance by Jr Blaze's Mitchell Kennedy who threw a complete game 4-hit shutout against the Jr Pirates. Final score Langley 6 Nanaimo 0.

Jr Blaze Finish Regular Season in 1st

Langley Jr Blaze have finished the BCJPBL regular season in 1st place for the 3rd year in row. Congratulations to Blaze coaching staff and players! With one game remaining the Blaze have 35-8 record. [See Langley Times news article]

The BCJPBL enters it's final regular season weekend with the top 8 teams going the BCJPBL Championship to be held Aug 9-12 at Whalley Stadium in Surrey. [See tournament schedule]

Team Achievement - TRIPLE PLAY: In game 2 of the DH on Sunday July 29, NS Jr Twins vs ND Jr Blue Jays, Top of the 6th inning the ND Jr Blue Jays pulled off a triple play. Bunt pop up, pitcher made a great diving catch, threw to 2nd for the force and threw to 1st for the other force to complete the triple play.

Exciting games in four parks to start the 2012 BCJPBL Season...

In the opening game of the season the the Victoria Jr Eagles and Nanaimo Jr Pirates combined for 23 hits and 27 runs with the Eagles winning 16-11. Eagles bats were led by Zachery Deol who went 2-4, 2 doubles and 2 RBIS. Lyndon Simmons had two hits and  3 RBIs, Jason Heckl went 2-3 with two RBIs, and Zane Takhar had two hits and 3 runs scored. In the second game of the doubleheader, the Jr Pirates won 8-2. The winning pitcher was RHP Aiden Goodall who pitched a complete game three hitter with 8 Ks. For the Jr Pirates, lead off hitter Shawn Arabsky went 3-5 with 3 runs scored and Tristan Olsen went 2-4 and 4 RBIs. Ind the second game, Jr Pirates won 8-2 with Lee Martin, Zach Diewert and Tristan Olsen each with two hits. For Jr Eagles, Zachery Deol went 1-3 with 2 runs scored.

In Langley, it was a pitcher's dual in the first game as the 2011 champions North Delta Jr Blue Jays won 2-0. WP Ryan Braun allowed just three hits in the shutout while Jr Blaze LP Grahame Bailey allowed just two hits and no earned runs. Jr Blue Jays runs were scored in the 2nd on a couple of errors, two passed balls and a wild pitch. In the second game, the Jr Blaze were 5-2 winners. Liam Goddfrey went 2-3 with an RBI and Mason Verge hit a double, two runs scored and a RBI, and Matthew Reston also had a double and a RBI for the Jr Blaze.  For the Jr Blue Jays, Tim Bunnett and Matt Lahti each went 2-3.

In White Rock, the Jr Tritons down 6-5 in the bottom of the 7th scored two runs to win their season opener over the Abbotsford Jr Cardinals, 7-6. Jr Tritons Griffin Hebert and Zach Campagne each had doubles and two RBIs. For the Jr Cardinals, SS Matt Revel went 2-2 with a double, 2 runs, 2 BBs, and a RBI. It was another squeaker in the second game as the Jr Tritons won 8-7, again scoring the tieing and winning run in the bottom this time of the 8th inning. Zach Campagne was the hero knocking in the two runs with a triple in the 8th. Jr Tritons Joey Gladman went 3-4 with 2 RBI, Kieren Oconnor 2-3 with a triple, and Griffin Hebert went 2-4.

The Vancouver Jr Cannons edged the Victoria Jr Mariners 7-6 scoring two runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. The Jr Cannons were led by Markus Helyar who went 2-3 with a double and RBI. Mohamed Imdakem and Geoffrey Legg each had two RBIs. For the Jr Mariners, Kieran Russell went 2-2 with 2 BBs, Chris Fougner 2-4 with 2 runs and Tanner Hess 1-2, 2 RBIs and 2 BBs. In the 2nd game, the Jr Cannons won 1-0 behind the strong pitching of RHP Stefan Helyar who went 5 innings allowing just one hit while striking out 12. WP Geoffrey Legg threw the last two innings in relief and didn't allow a hit. The games only run was scored in the 6th on a RBI by Markus Helyar who went 2-3.

Junior Blaze Finish 1st - Top Seed

Congratulations to the Langley Junior Blaze for finishing 1st in the 2011 BCJPBL regular season with a 41-7 record. The Blaze won both the regular season and league championship in 2010. The Jr Blaze will be the top seed going into this weekend's 2011 BCJPBL Final 8 Championship hosted by Nanaimo. North Delta, Coquitlam, Nanaimo, Abbotsford and Victoria Mariners have also qualified. The 7th and 8th spots in the Final 8 are yet to be decided. See tournament details.
 
2011 BCJPBL Season Opening Day - April 16th

The 2011 regular season will get underway on Saturday, April 16th with the defending champions Langley Jr Blaze hosting North Shore. Parksville Jr Royals and Abbotsford Jr Cardinals will also host double headers to start the season.

2011 BCJPBL News - 13 Teams This Season

The league will increase to 13 teams this with both the Fraser Valley Jr Chiefs and the Parksville Jr Royals both rejoining after a one year absence. The teams will play a 40 game schedule which will be released in early February. The regular season will begin on Sat. April 16th.
 
Jr Blaze are the 2010 Champions!

The Langley Jr Blaze finished a great season by winning 2010 BCJPBL Championship beating Coquitlam 16-2 in championship final. The Jr Blaze came into the Final 8 weekend after finishing first in the regular season with 29-11 record.

The Jr Blaze won four straight games to reach the final (12-2 vs Nanaimo, 4-2 vs Coquitlam, 5-4 vs Victoria Jr Mariners, 9-2 vs North Shore)

Congratulations to Head Coach Orville Germaine, players and the whole Blaze organization!

Congratulations to Head Coach Orville Germaine, players and staff of the Jr Blaze for becoming the 2010 BCJPBL Regular Season champs!
The Langley Jr Blaze finished in first place with 29-11 record well ahead of second place finishers North Shore (24-16). Abbotsford (24-16) finished third after finishing first in the BCJPBL regular season in 2009.

With only three games remaining in the regular season the 4th thru 9th place finishers are still undecided.

For the upcoming playoff games;

  • Top 5 teams in league standings automatically qualify
  • Qualifying games: complete by July 14th (one 9 inning game)
  • 6 vs 11; 7 vs 10; 8 vs 9 for final 3 spots
  • Played at the park of the higher seed

The 2010 BCJPBL Championships will be held July 16-18 hosted by the North Delta Jr Blue Jays. [See the championship schedule and other information]

Tie-Breaker Information
In the event after the completion of league play there is a tie in the standings between teams, the following criteria will be used to break the tie;

  1. When 2 teams are tied, head to head records are compared.
  2. When more than 2 teams are tied, the record of the teams amongst each other is compared.
  3. When a tie still exists, the following criteria will be used.
    • Compare the record of teams against all the teams above them in the standing
    • Compare the record of teams against the team in first place, then in second place, then in third place,…. until the tie is broken
