The Executive Management Committee (EMC) of the Premier Baseball Association is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2012 PBL scholarships. After reviewing 14 applications, a total of $6000 has been awarded to nine players from the PBL and CCBC. Four players were unable to achieve the academic standard required to qualify for a scholarship. Congratulations to the following scholarship winners: Evan Douglas (White Rock); Tanner Sandstrom (White Rock); Taylor Lawrence (Coquitlam); Alex Webb (White Rock); Dallas Senger (Okanagan); Bryan Pawlina (Parksville); Luke Hawkins (Vancouver Island University); Tyler Pentland (Okanagan College); Matt Ney (Douglas College).| Bryan Pawlina from Parksville and Alex Webb from White Rock are the recipients of the Rud Haar Memorial Scholarship for a high school player. Both players achieved a remarkable academic standing in their final year of secondary school with a GPA of 4.33 and each will receive a $1500 scholarship. Luke Hawkins from Vancouver Island University is the recipient of the Rud Haar Memorial Scholarship for a college player with another remarkable GPA of 4.33 and will receive a $1000 scholarship. Scholarship cheques will be forwarded to recipients in February 2013 when academic eligibility to play the spring championship season is confirmed. Applications for 2013 scholarships will be accepted up to the July 15, 2013 deadline. All graduating premier players planning to play baseball in Canada and college players attending a Canadian program are encouraged to apply annually. |
