The 2012 Blaze will return from their annual spring training trip to Arizona and jump into the BCPBL regular season with a blended mix of 10 returning Premier players, 8 players graduating from the Junior ranks and 3 newcomers to the Blaze organization. Doug Mathieson and Jamie Bodaly look to build on their 2011 BCPBL Championship season as the Blaze will once again rely on their two mainstays, timely hitting and strong pitching, to remain competitive throughout their 110 game 2012 season. The 2012 Blaze will quickly gain maturity and experience through the regular BCPBL season and their exhibition schedule which takes them to Tucson, Phoenix, Kamloops, Seattle, Mt Vernon, Bellingham and Los Angeles. The Blaze will kick into high gear in July to mark the beginning of their regular season stretch drive and to build momentum as they head into the playoffs and take a run, in defense of their 2011 title, at the 2012 BCPBL Championships. |

The Langley Blaze went undefeated in six games to win the 2011 Abbotsford Invitational this past weekend. The Blaze utilized a team effort which consisted of strong hitting, outscoring their opponents 45-4, sound defense and stellar pitching, allowing only 1 earned run in 38 innings. The pitching staff's weekend was highlighted by Kyle Joel's perfect game on Saturday night.
The Blaze would like to thank the Abbotsford Cardinals organization for hosting the tournament and commend their hard work throughout the rainy weekend to ensure that all games remained on track and were played on excellent field conditions in keeping with Delair Park's fine reputation.

After returning from our annual Arizona Spring trip, the Blaze look forward to the start of the PBL season. Arizona provided an experience not many high school players get, playing 8 college teams, 10 games vs MLB rookie and A ball squads on major league fields and one game vs a talent laden Dominican Republic team, many who will sign for 6 or 7 figures this coming year. All this under the Arizona sun in front of MLB and college scouts at each game. The Blaze have 4 players currently on the Cdn National Jr team, rhp Tom Robson, inf's Dustin Houle and Justin Atkinson and outfielder Jerod Bartnik all of whom will miss considerable time away representing their country. With a predominately sr squad this year mixed with some very talented jr players, the Blaze hope to compete and defend their league title this upcoming season. |
