Blaze Dakota Curry does again - walk off double to win championship

Down 3-2 to the North Shore Twins in the bottom of the 9th of the championship game, Blaze CF Mason Verge singled to start the inning and promptly stole second. Kyle McComb laid down a perfect bunt for a single to advance the runner. Sac bunt by Wilson advanced McComb to 2nd. Robinson was walked to load the bases. 1B Dakota Curry knocked in two runs with a walk off double to win the championship. Last night Curry hit a walk off home run to send the Blaze into the championship final. Congratulations to the Langley Blaze organization!

 

Earlier in the day, the Twins defeated the Whalley Chiefs 9-5 (coming back from a 5-1 deficit) and then beat the Vancouver Cannons 3-2 to reach the championship final.

Curry home run sends Langley into Championship Final

Dakota Curry's two run home run in the bottom of the 8th inning gave Langley a 4-2 win over the Victoria Mariners and sent the Blaze into final on Monday as the winners of round robin play. North Shore will play tournament hosts Whalley in a tie breaking game at 10.30am with the winner playing Vancouver in the semi-final. 

If the Mariners had defeated the Blaze, the round robin play would have ended with all 5 teams at 2-2. Curry is today's hero!

Langley Blaze win Best of the West (Kamloops) for 5th straight year

Langley Blaze win Best of the West (Kamloops) for 5th straight year defeating OK Athletics in the final 13-0.

BCPBL teams competing were ND Blue Jays, OK Athletics, North Shore Twins, Parksville Royals, Victoria Mariners and the Langley Blaze. Tournament included Okotoks, Vauxhall, SFX Academy and Edmonton Prospects in front of 25 MLB scouts.
 
Blaze went through the tournament undefeated. Tournament MVP was Connor Chorpita. Kristan Storrie threw 4 1/3 1 hit innings for the win vs the Athletics.

 

 

Jordan will become the 5th Blaze alumni (Lawrie, Gillies, Lotzkar and Mathieson) to play in the highly touted MLB futures, featuring the top talent in the minor leagues on the brink of callup to the majors. 85% of all futures invites have made it to the show. Blaze finish in 1st Place, Win League Title!

With two wins over the Victoria Mariners on Sunday, the Langley Blaze capture the 2013 BCPBL league title. Current record sits at 38-8 with two games remaining in the season. The Blaze now leave for Los Angeles to play in the prestigious Oriole Scout tournament held at Long Beach Univ legendary Blair Field plus ex games at the MLB Academy in Compton, Ca.
Update: Blaze split last two games with Cannons and finish with a 39-9 record. Congratulations to the Blaze organization!

Apr 7 Finals: Blaze 11 Okotoks 1 – Blaze win their 4th consecutive KR3 BOW!!

The Blaze came off a marathon Arizona tour playing pro teams to win their 4th in a row with a decisive 10-1 victory vs Okotoks Dawgs. Nick Rutckyj starred with 2 massive hr's followed by Mason Cratty's solo towering hr. Kyle Ross was solid in the start with Kristjan Storrie closing it out on the mound. Tournament MVP was Justin Lawrence with a strong rookie offensive showing. Grahame Bailey pulled a Yu Darvish with a perfect game going into the last inning vs Parksville only to give it up with a single. Congratulations to all players on a great showing
