Parksville Royals - Workouts & Tryouts

The Parksville Royals baseball Club has commenced indoor workouts every Sunday in February at the Glenwood Centre in Port Alberni. Any and all interested players residing in Parksville, Port Alberni and all areas north Vancouver Island including Powell River and the northern Gulf Islands are eligible and encouraged to attend. Workouts are rom 10:30 am – 12:30 pm

Outdoor workouts commence March 6 & 7 12 noon at Highlands School in Comox. All other outdoor workouts will be at pringwood Park, Parksville. First exhibition games are March 13 & 14. Final team selection for both Junior and Senior Royals will be made by March 28.

Effective September 1, 2009 Parksville Royals Baseball Club announces the retirement of General Manager Clyde Inouye from the Royals organization. Clyde was an original founder of the Parksville Royals and has been the GM for the entire fifteen years the organization has been participating in the BC Premier Baseball league. He has managed the Royals with integrity, enthusiasm, passion and organizational skills which are unparalleled throughout the province and Canada.  Clyde’s philosophy and motto “what’s best for the kids” is reflected in the structure of the Royals organization both on and off the field. Clyde has also been an avid supporter of minor sports and the Parksville-Qualicum community through his involvement with Oceanside Baseball and as a respected administrator in The Qualicum School District. Through perseverance, and dedication, Clyde has been responsible for obtaining over $200,000 in improvements and ongoing maintenance to the baseball facilities Springwood Park. He has also been the driving force behind the Annual  Quality Foods BC’s Best Victoria Day weekend Tournament which is one of the premier tournaments of its kind in the country.  2010 will be the sixteenth year of the tournament which showcases elite Grade 10 -12 players from throughout BC which in the past has also featured appearances from teams from Alberta, Ontario, and France.

On behalf of the Parksville Royals we would like to sincerely thank Clyde for his dedication, enthusiasm, and support of baseball and wish him continued success as he continues on as Executive Director of the BC Premier Baseball League.

Effective immediately the Parksville Royals Baseball Organization are pleased to announce that former Junior Royals coach Scott Rodway has been appointed the new General Manager of the Royals.  For over twenty years Scott has been involved in Parksville-Qualicum community as a lawyer, Qualicum Beach Councilor, and coach and long time executive member of Oceanside Baseball. The Parksville Royals are also pleased to announce that longtime coaches Dave Wallace and Jim Seredick will be back with the organization in 2010. The Royals are seeking qualified, enthusiastic coaches to assist with both the Senior and Junior Royals programs next year. Parksville Royals 2009 Fall Program

Parksville Royals, entering their sixteenth season in the PBL commenced their annual fall program on August 26. Workouts are open to all players entering grades 9-12 residing in Parksville and all areas north on Vancouver Island, the northern Gulf Islands including Powell River.  Workouts are scheduled every Wednesdays until Oct 7 5:30 - 7:30 pm and Saturdays and Sundays until Oct 11 all at Springwood Park in Parksville. The Royals have scheduled approximately 12 games for each of their junior and senior teams against island teams including the newest entry into the PBL from Victoria. They are scheduled to participate in the Fall Classic for both juniors and seniors and the seniors are entered into the Okanagan College high school showcase in Kelowna.  The cost for the fall program is $150.

To date over 40 players have been attending workouts with more expected after the Labour Day weekend. The Royals invite all interested eligible players who are ready to make a serious commitment to their game to participate in the fall.
