 ·DINO BASEBALL MISSION STATEMENT:

The University of Calgary Baseball Club will provide student-athletes the opportunity to develop their skills as a baseball player in a competitive college baseball program while obtaining aquality education in their chosen field.

 ·DINO BASEBALL PHILOSOPHY:

Entering our fourth season, and our second as a member of the CCBC, the Dino Baseball program offers players a college conference schedule based out of a Triple-A level facility, under the guidance of high level coaching while the student athlete pursues a top level education.

The Dino baseball program is a competitive program for Canadian players considering an alternative to spending their first two years at an American Junior College. The level of play is equal and often superior to a Junior College experience at a FRACTION of the cost, not to mention a much superior education.

We develop players for transfer to NAIA and NCAA programs in Canada and the US, hence building the Dino programs re****tion for player development and competitiveness. Once the program attains varsity status , the program will cement its place as a realistic and competitive alternative to any other Canadian or US program.

 ·PLAYER ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for the Dino baseball program all players must be attending the University of Calgary or Mount Royal College or a combination of, as a full-time student (three class - nine credit minimum).

As mandated by the CCBC, "In order to be eligible for the Championship Season, a student athlete must have passed at least nine credits between Championship Seasons, exclusive of the summer semester. He also must be deemed eligible by his Athletic Director or, in the event that an Athletic Director is not in place, by a third party as designated by the CCBC. Exception: a first-year college student that is attending school in the fall as a full-time student will be deemed eligible for the subsequent Championship Season if he receives passing grades in courses that total only six credits. Note: A player returning to the CCBC from another institution is not considered a first-year student unless he has only attended school for one semester or quarter, as might be the case at the school he is leaving. He must have passed at least six credit hours at that school. Enrolment payment receipts and a copy of previous semester grades should be submitted with the fall and spring rosters".

 ·COMPETITION:

The Dinos compete in both a fall and spring schedule. With the combined schedule the club plays (on average) 60 games per year against other Canadian and American College programs including conference games in the five team CCBC. Approximatly one third of the Dinos games are played against established American College programs.

 ·FACILITIES:

The Dinos play and practice at Calgary's Foothills Stadium (formally Burns Stadium)located beside the University of Calgary campus. The former home of the AAA-Calgary Cannons and current home of the Northern League's Calgary Vipers, Foothills Stadium is Calgary's finest baseball facility.

The Dinos conduct winter and early spring workouts in a combination of the the U of C's Jack Simpson and Red Gyms and various indoor facilities in Calgary.

NEW COACH; NEW OUTLOOK; NEW PROGRAM
Sunday, 03 February 2008 08:05

In the Fall of 2004 the University of Calgary Dinos hired the programs first fulltime Head Coach, AJ Fystro.  With the hiring the Dinos want all recruits to know they are taking the steps to take the program in the right direction.

With a change in philosophy and a demand for excellence on and off the field the Dinos will look to make a quick run at solidifying themselves among the elite of the CCBC.   From positional coaches to Foothills Stadium and a soon to be completed indoor facility the Dinos are taking the steps to offer recruits everything they could ask for.  As attitudes change and goals become bigger the program is building on what is hoped to be the place to be for Canadian kids.

Mission Statement
The University of Calgary Baseball Club strives to provide student-athletes the opportunity to develop their skills as a baseball player in a competitive college baseball program while obtaining a quality education in their chosen field.

Player Eligibility
To be eligible for the Dino baseball program all players must be attending either the University of Calgary or Mount Royal College as a full-time student.  Prospective players are encouraged to discuss their individual circumstances and career paths with the coaches.  The Dinos baseball executive holds their players to the highest of standards and expectations in the classroom.  If a players grades are not maintained to the programs standards that individual will be deemed ineligible.

Competition
The Dinos compete in both a Fall and Spring schedule. With the combined Fall and Spring schedule the club plays (on average) 55 games per year against other Canadian and American College programs as well as High School Academy teams.  The CCBC (Canadian College Baseball Conference) consists of five teams from Alberta and BC.
