The Premier Baseball Association has adopted a new decision making model. The general managers from each premier team will make up the General Managers Committee (GMC) and have been given the responsibility for making decisions regarding the operation of PBL. Decisions made by the GMC will be ratified by the Executive Management Committee (EMC) composition includes president, executive director, secretary, and treasurer. [see new governing structure] The GMC is pleased to announce that Ted Hotzak has been re-elected as president for the Premier Baseball Association for the next four years. Ted has served in this position for the past four years.

Also, the GMC is pleased to announce the appointment of Troy Carmont as umpire-in-chief for the lower mainland teams and Kelowna effective immediately. Chet Masse will remain in the umpire-in-chief position for the four island teams. Troy brings a wealth of experience to his position with 28 years experience, Level 5 umpire certificate and completion of the Baseball Canada Caravan training program for instructors in 2007; and experience working five National Championships for Baseball Canada. Troy will focus on the development of umpires at the junior premier level. He will give young umpires and umpires with potential the opportunity to work at the premier level to bring additional umpires on board to address the umpire succession plan for the PBL. Troy will also oversee the allocation of umpires for the junior premier level and the assessment of all umpires in the PBL.

Congratulations to Ted and Troy on their appointments! The PBL looks forward to the expertise that both these individuals bring to the association.
