Brett Lawrie (18), unsigned by the Milwaukee Brewers and still playing for the Langley Blaze has been selected to the Canadian Olympic Baseball Team which is Beijing bound in August. Brett will be joining his sister, Danielle, who is a star pitcher for the Canadian Women's Softball team at the Olympic Games in China.

Other BCPBL alumni selected to the 24 player Canadian Olympic Men's Baseball team roster are Mike Saunders (Victoria Mariners) currently playing Triple-A with Tacoma (Seattle Mariners), Jimmy VanOstrand (North Delta Blue Jays) currently playing Class A Advanced with Salem (Kanasas City Royals) and Matt Rogelstad (Coquitlam Reds) currently playing Double-A ball with Harrisburg (Washington Nationals).
